AVIRA: FREE ANTI-VIRUS FOR MAC AND WINDOWS
Having a computer often means reckoning with viruses that can infect it. Viruses can infect our PC in various ways: through an e-mail, through a downloaded file or even via a chat message. Often, however, those who send viruses via chat or e-mail are unaware of it and are themselves affected.
So how to defend yourself from this annoying problem that can damage the data in our computer and, sometimes, can also be a threat to the security of our personal data?
There are several anti-viruses on the market, but nowadays we can defend ourselves from the feared viruses and trojans even with free programs.
Avira is a great example. This antivirus has both a free version and a paid version, but the free one is enough to protect our PC from the common viruses that you can encounter.
The difference lies in the fact that in the free version updates are performed every 6 hours, while in the paid version, every two hours. The paid version also has two additional features: Web Protection and Mail Protection. The icon of Avira is an umbrella that, once installed the program, you will see it in the bar at the bottom right near the time. The graphics are quite simple and intuitive: just press the “Start Scan” button and Avira will start a scan of your PC. You can choose between a quick scan (faster, but superficial) or a complete scan (a bit slower but more complete) and also what to scan: only the PC or the mobile phone (via app), or a specific folder or hard disk.
To scan the phone you need to download the Avira app, which will be used to scan our mobile device. The app is free, but to download it you need to create an account on the antivirus site. A very useful feature of Avira is that it allows us to set up a scheduled scan of our pc. For example we can choose to scan the PC looking for possible viruses every week or every two weeks or every month.
With Avira you can also add an extension on your browser, which will tell you immediately if a page is reliable or not. In short, Avira is perhaps not one of the most popular anti-viruses, but certainly does its job very well. Another point in its favor is that you can use the free version and still having the quality of scanning of the paid one!
